OUR HISTORY
One of us had the idea of creating a “news and debate website”. He opened up this idea to our friends. New ideas were added to this initial idea. In May 2004, we began our official existence with the website www.binfikir.be as Binfikir (binfikir means 1000 ideas. We chose this title to emphasize the pluralism of our approach and the principles that guide us). We then had a site of a thousand ideas.
Our readers wanted us to publish a printed newspaper. We published our first issue in November 2005 and became the monthly Binfikir Newspaper for 14 years, featuring news, commentary, humor and special interviews. So we became the Binfikir newspaper. In addition to these thousand ideas from the beginning, thousands of other ideas were added. Thanks to our 113 issues, we won the hearts of thousands of readers who are still loyal to us.
Above all, we are “a democratic, pluralist and dynamic team from whose members thousands of ideas emerge”. You already know us well with what we write, draw and do. Actually, we are you. We are the mirror of society.
Above all, we are “a democratic, pluralist and dynamic team from whose members thousands of ideas emerge”. You already know us well with what we write, draw and do. Actually, we are you. We are the mirror of society.
Binfikir, which, thanks to its website founded in 2004 www.binfikir.be, transmits the Belgian current affairs in Turkish to the Turkish community in Belgium, decided to use this mirror in a different style as of February 2021 by creating “Binfikir’s reflection platform”. This will be a platform of pluralist thought. Thanks to this platform, our ambition is to develop responsible and participative citizens, with a mastery not only of their language and culture of origin but also of the languages and cultures of Belgium, capable of reflecting on the issues driving Belgian society and willing to participate and involve the Turks of Belgium in the life of Belgian society.
The Binfikir team, which started its publication life in 2004 with the website www.binfikir.be and in November 2005 with a printed monthly newspaper brought “Belgium closer to the Turks in Belgium” and “the Turks to Belgium” in its publications. Binfikir conveyed the developments in Belgium to its readers in Turkish with a monthly newspaper for 14 years (the last 1 year in a 3-month magazine format) and a website that was updated daily for 15 years.
Since November 2018, when the last issue of the paper magazine was published, Binfikir started thinking about a new publishing concept. The “Binfikir’s Platform of Reflection”, which you are reading now, therefore began its existence in February 2021 and will only be available online.
Since 2008, Binfikir has been pursuing its cultural and artistic activities in the form of a non-profit organization.
